A Note From Our President

Welcome to Buzz, a specialty meat and seafood purveyor in Charleston, WV.  It is my honor and privilege to be the third generation in my family to own and operate this unique business along with my wife and partner, Angela.  Our company was originally started here in Charleston in the late 1930's by Mark Hill, who eventually sold the business to my father and grandfather in 1968.

While our company is known to many for our famous local product, Buzz Buttered Steaks, for the last 40 years, we've focused more and more narrowly on our niche in the foodservice marketplace, as a producer of high-quality cut steaks, chops and grinds for operators of independent restaurants (i.e. not chains).  The work that we do in our USDA-inspected meat processing facility sets Buzz apart from our national competitors and includes sourcing the highest quality beef, lamb, pork, veal, all-natural poultry and fresh seafood in the world.

The evolution of our business continues.  In April 2022, we opened our state-of-the-art livestock harvest facility, Appalachian Abattoir.  This critical piece of agricultural infrastructure fills a well-defined need for more meat processing capacity in the region and creates career opportunities for as many as 35 new associates.  The intention of this project is to fill a well-known gap in local meat markets by harvesting locally-raised livestock and enabling more producers, chefs and consumers to capitalize on the high quality beef, pork and lamb that is raised right here in our backyard.  It also further solidifies Buzz as the regional leader in meat processing and distribution.

I hope you'll find this web site to be a helpful description of our company and that it demonstrates ways that Buzz could be helpful to your restaurant, grocery store, country club, butcher shop, hotel or other foodservice operation.  We have a terrific team of knowledgeable and helpful people, so I hope you'll consider calling us for a conversation about your business.  Until then, thanks for taking the time to learn more about Buzz.  Bon Appetit!

Sincerely,

Dickinson Gould

President
